Backdrops & Drapes
We specialise in bespoke backdrops and textile-based stage dressings for the music and entertainment industry. Whatever you need behind, on, across or beside your stage we can create it for you.
Rockdrops come in any size, utilising various fixings from eyelets, tie tapes, kader track, Velcro or barrel pocket as specified to meet your individual requirements. We provide individual instructions on how to care for your Rockdrop.
Safety - All Rockdrops come with a fire certificate which covers all your regional and touring requirements. The completed fire certificate is printed on fabric and is sewn into a pocket, which is attached to the bottom, left-hand corner of the RockDrop; avoiding all the problems associated with bad fax printouts or eligible email copies and it is always with the Rockdrop.
The Rockdrops Bag - All Rockdrops come in a free custom made bag to keep them clean, safe and highly visible when they are not being used. Making it easy to find at the back of a dark stage when you come to do your idiot checks.
Fabrics
All printed Rockdrops are made in 100% knitted construction polyster.
A sample swatch book is available on request.
We also provide natural fibre materials, such as black wool serge and canvas.

Densely knitted polyester. Heavy duty, non-stretch material. Strong colour reproduction with a matt finish.
Weight: 205 grams per square metre.
Flame retardant to M1 / B1.
.: Satin (printable)
Densely knitted polyester. Constructed to achieve a satin (gloss) finish, which gives good response to show and stage lighting. A lightweight fabric that is ideal for Kabuki drops.
Weight: 115 grams per square metre.

.: Flag (printable)
Open construction knitted polyester. A matt finished fabric that allows for a through print, giving a reverse image. The fabric's open construction allows quicker drying when wet.

Lightweight yarn, open construction knitted polyester. A very light and semi-transparent matt finished fabric. The construction allows for a through print, giving a reverse image.

.: Festi-Mesh (printable)
Open construction knitted polyester. Festi-Mesh was researched and developed by Rockdrops very own GCB. The fabric is a mesh (acoustically engineered scrim) that displays a clear image whilst allowing excellent sound transmission. The construction is designed to be resistant to the build up of rain droplets, so that mid to high frequencies are not reflected back into the PA. Festi-Mesh is the sound industry's preferred acoustically permeable PA scrim.
Weight: 145 grams per square metre.

.: Trevira (unprintable)
Lightweight satin finished manmade parachute silk. Comes in 150cm widths. Ideal for kabuki drops and block colour. A more economic option to "Satin" for an unprinted solid colour. Comes in black, white or a range of 19 colours.
.: Black wool serge (unprintable)
Heavy duty, light-fast (opaque) natural fabric. Comes in 150cm widths. Stage blackout material. Can be used for mola.
.: Canvas (printable)
Our canvas comes in a variety of sizes and weights. Colours are white, black and natural.
.: Velvet (unprintable)
100% cotton pile in various colours.Comes in 120cm widths. Weight: 395 grams per square metre.

BS5867: Part 2: 1980 Types A,B and C
BS3120
DOE/PSA: FRS No7 (April 1980). Ignition sources 0,1 and 2.
.: Gauze (unprintable)
Lightweight translucent material. Ideal for back-lit stage effects such as mola.
These are the most commonly used fabrics in the entertainment industry. Rockdrops will source a wider range on request, but please remember we deal specifically in fire retardant materials.
:: Mola Technique
Designs are cut out of an opaque material such as Black Wool Serge and backed with a translucent material such as gauze. Very impressive when back lit. Can also be combined with Kabuki drop to great effect.
:: Kabuki Drop Technique
Top of Rockdrop is supported on electro-magnetic Kabuki solenoids. Which release on command to allow Rockdrop to fall gracefully to the floor. Used as a reveal.
Stage Set
If you have managed to catch a glimpse of the Franz Ferdinand tour this year or last year, Rockdrops was responsible for the 4 tower media (x12 backdrops in total), the floorings and the Kabuki's plus the ancillaries, gaffa, floor tape, self adhesive Velcro, push-up pipe etc.

.: Riser Skirt
Hide the underside of your risers with our fabric riser skirt. Custom made to your specifications. Attaches to your riser with self-adhesive velcro, light machine washable, with Velcro spots on the outer edge so that they can be tacked up to roll the riser without it getting caught and snagged.

Curtain track.
Lightweight push up stands - available for purchase or hire. A free-standing, quick, easy support for Rockdrops between 7' - 12' high. Each goalpost shape telescopes between 6' - 10' wide and can be joined together to incorperate the length of your Rockdrop. Useful where there is no existing rigging, truss or poles such as open-air events like Festivals and roadshows. Or if your supporting and want some branding on the stage for your band, it's very quick and easy to take down during changeovers .

.: Bass Drum Heads
Rockdrops provides full digitally printed designs (single colour or multicolour) which cover the whole bass drum head. We can provide most makes of bass drum heads with these prints; if you have a preference of front bass drum head, we can supply it and put your logo/print on it, be it a single colour name or a full colour graphic.
